Courts declare we can make a fuel product from waste lube oils – June 2007
Following a series of legal challenges against the Environment Agency, the Court of Appeal has declared that waste oil companies can create a fuel product from waste lubricating oil.
The Agency and DEFRA have been tasked with establishing the ‘end of waste’ specification and industry now awaits the outcome which is expected mid 2009. In the meantime, the EA is permitting the sale of a waste derived fuel as a product to non-WID compliant facilities provided it meets an interim position based on BS2869 Class G-HFO.
