Eco-Oil joins the Puralube Group - November 2006

Christian Hartmann, Chairman of BAUFELD and PURALUBE Europe is delighted to announce the acquisition of the shares of Eco-Oil Limited effective 1 November 2006. The Directors of Eco-Oil are equally pleased to be part of such a technically advanced Group.

Eco-Oil is one of the leading companies operating within the UK waste oil collection and recycling industry with current annual sales in excess of 40m Euros. Eco-Oil employs more than 70 people, has a tanker fleet of 22 vehicles and has comprehensive activities offering a national waste oil collection service, specialist operation for the collection of oily waste from shipping and a fuel product trading business. Eco-Oil handles over 200,000 tonnes of liquid waste and fuels and has more than 5000 active clients, many of which have a long and successful history with Eco-Oil and all of which remain important to the company.

The 3 shareholders of Eco-Oil enjoy over 100 years of industry experience between them, which has enabled their company to develop to its current status. The shareholders have been supported in their endeavours by an equally experienced management team. With this new change in ownership, Ian Cross will stay on as MD of Eco-Oil and Bill Styles and Brian Denness will also retain an active roll in the company, ensuring the business continues to flourish.

BAUFELD has an impressive background with more than 25 years experience in waste oil collection and recovery, soil remediation, garage waste and industrial services. It operates three plants in Germany plus has activities in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria and it sees the UK as a natural progression for the development of its European business. Eco-Oil plans to benefit from the expertise BAUFELD has developed in its various fields in order to maximise the services provided to its existing and future customers.

The UK is the second largest producer of waste oils in Europe, Germany being the largest. Within all of Europe, environmental legislation is the driving force behind the activities of the waste management industry in general and oil is recognised as the largest volume hazardous waste and a potential source of major pollution. BAUFELD recognises the potential for this market and looks forward to working with the Eco-Oil team to maximise the opportunity for the company.

The BAUFELD Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of PURALUBE Inc. which operates the technically advanced ‘HyLUBETM’ process in Germany under exclusive licence of UOP. This unique process produces highest quality re-refined base lube oils which out perform standard virgin products and are in high demand throughout Europe. Driven by its strong economics, PURALUBE has conceptual designs for the development of its waste lube oil regeneration business throughout Europe, Asia and the US. Oil regeneration is an obvious solution to the growing issues of resource management in the oil sector and PURALUBE, BAUFELD and Eco-Oil will be the first to announce high quality recycling for the UK.
