Waste Incineration Directive (WID) forces market change – December 2005

 

The vast majority of Recycled Fuel Oil (RFO) users in the UK have not been able to meet the stringent limits set by the WID. This has meant that RFO users have converted back to more expensive virgin oils. At the same time waste oil recycling companies have sourced new sales outlets. Everyone involved in the waste oil chain has experienced a financial impact.

 

 

Eco-Oil Ltd secures outlet for recovered waste oil – August 2005

 

Eco-Oil announces an exclusive contract for the supply of recycled waste oil to the blast furnace at Corus, Redcar. With the closing of customer outlets to recycled oil such as power stations and road stone manufacturers, it has been essential for the waste oil industry to develop alternative sales opportunities within the UK.


Eco-Oil has extended its operation to provide on-site personnel to manage a 7-day reception and quality control facility for the recycled waste oil it collects plus oil collected by other waste oil collection and recycling companies. Corus Redcar has the capacity to accept the majority of waste oil collected from the domestic UK market.

 


Acquisition of another waste oil business – July 2005


Eco-Oil is pleased to announce the expansion of our collection network, following the acquisition of the waste oil and garage services division of J & K Oils Ltd on 1st July. J & K's waste oil and garage services personnel have operated from the Stoke on Trent area, for over twelve years and have built an enviable reputation for reliability and quality of service. Eco-Oil Ltd is very proud to welcome them on board and will continue to extend their customers the same level of care and attention.

 

 

‘Special’ waste becomes ‘Hazardous’ in England and Wales – July 2005


July 2005 sees the implementation of the Hazardous Waste Regulations in England and Wales. This resulted in the introduction of new consigning systems and ‘premise registrations’ for waste producers, all of which will have a financial burden.

 

 

Change of status of Recovered Fuel Oil by Dec 2005? – March 2005


The plans to change the status of Recovered Fuel Oil (RFO), proposed by DEFRA and the Environment Agency, will adversely affect the value of our recycled product and in turn create serious ramifications for both waste oil producers and RFO users.
