Interim position for Waste Oil being used as a fuel

The Environment Agency's is currently reviewing the legislation governing the use of waste oil as a fuel. The following interim guidance is valid until the Environment Agency's Technical Advisory Group’s standard is agreed:


"We will not regard fuel oils (all or part of) taken from waste lubricating oils (that are used as fuel) as waste if they are processed to meet the specification for Class G oils (excluding the requirements for viscosity as specified in Table 3 of British Standard BS 2869:2006 - Fuel oils for Agricultural, domestic and industrial engines and boilers)."

The interim position will be superseded by the final Quality Protocol for Waste Oil in 2010. More details here.
