The End-of-Life Vehicles Regulations 2003
The End-of-Life Vehicle Regulations (ELV) set targets that promote the environmentally sound dismantling of motor vehicles and related waste.
The regulations require vehicle waste to be completely separated for recycling. Records must be maintained and retained that detail the volumes and types of wastes that are accumulated and disposed of, including:
-
Engine oil
-
Petrol
-
Diesel
-
Anti-freeze and other coolants
-
Air-conditioning fluid
-
Gearbox and hydraulic oils
-
Brake and transmission fluid
-
Batteries
